Wear and tear on tires is going to happen.
Because of the increased distribution of stress over the tires, they have a longer life which is good news for owners since these tires are more expensive than ordinary tires. The treads and grooves may be deep in these tires but this does not increase the chances of small stones becoming embedded in the tires. They do have a decreased stone retention characteristic.
